Tue Sep 10, 2013 8:52 pm by Positivevibe

I just moved from Chennai, I am looking for admission for my 6 year old kid.
After my extensive search, understand that I can place my kid only in international school, as both of us are holding only professional visa.

Can someone suggest me, if there is any private or tamil school which will admit foreign national?

Private Tuition

Do you send your kids to private tuition after school or do you teach them yourselves? What are the pros and cons of sending kids to private tuition after school? Is it an unnecessary burden for the kids or is it seen as much needed assistance for the kids in terms of education?

Private School

Can someone from the education line give me some pointers about private schooling? I have been thinking about this recently as my daughter has come of enrollment age to the primary school. My current considerations are:

1. Sekolah Sri Murni

how about luck ? Sad

I'm very upset today. My close friend called me and informed me that he was terminated from his company for some quality issue. He is such a charismatic and hardworking person, full of confidence and effort. BUT OBVIOUSLY HE IS NOT LUCKY BECAUSE THE BOSS ( SADAYAN) KEEP ON FINDING FAULT AND PLANNED THIS WHOLE THING.

If this is unfair dismissal, ask your freind to take this up with the Labor Office, who will then escalate this to the Labour Court that looks into employment related cases. Most of the big companies are very afraid to be taken to court and will often settle out of court very "handsomely". But I also know of cases where the case got mentioned and the greived party was awarded more than 100K as compensation for exemplary and punitive damages.... he laughed all the way to the bank. Many people are not aware that they can acheive alot thru the Labour court, why leave the Sadayan company as a loser? Teach a lesson... at least. No Twisted Evil

And its not a sadayan company...its an american company and the GM is sadayan.
My friend was doing so well and the americans used to praise him, so we guess the sadayan felt insecure and made a small issue so big. They conducted DI and terminated after four weeks.

Normally an american company will not do this type of things, I know because Im from one... assuming that your freind is telling the truth, then I smell something very fishy. According to Malaysian Labor law, its not easy to terminate a confirmed staff just like that, or just because his superior felt insecure. There are steps and procedures that the company has to take first. Like counselling, guidance and written counselling... it is only when the employee has shown willful non-compliance can it lead to dismissal, that also as a last resort, when all avenues had been exhausted.

So if your freind has been doing very well previously and he has the record of that, this will be a "sure win" case. Haul them to the Labour court. Simple performance issues cannot be used to dismiss someone.

But im curious as to why they need to make a domestic enquiry into his job performace related case. DIs are normally held to look into personal misconduct issues only, not performance based issues. Performance based issues are handled by the HR. So this is why Im curious, why they had a DI.

It really doesnt matter whether DI or not. It looks like the case is a "sure win" assuming the freind is telling the true reasons for his dismissal. Dont lose this opportunity to get it addressed.

WOW VJ....YOU'RE A GEM....you know a lot of things huh?

Actually, a few months back a quality issue happened in the company. His engineer didn't escalate this issue to my friend( manager). The product was shipped out and became a customer issue. The engineer(Indian) was terminated too. Then after a week , my friend got a show cause letter. He was devastated. He contacted a few of us and we worked together to draft a letter. His charges were mis-management and failure to contain the faulty materials. Then they gave letter for DI. We were all very upset again.Anyway , he wasn't suspended during the DI and after DI. He was working like hell through out this month. Unfortunately....they didn't appreciate him and his effort.

Yeah...he was an excellent worker. Last year around this time, he was given off cycle increment and his reveiws are always excellent. I remember all these because he calls his friends out whenever he is happy to celebrate. Sad

This is getting off-topic but Ill answer a thing or two of what I know.

Actually from what I can see, it is a system failure, Why didnt they have proper quality control system that can arrest the problem inhouse? If the defects can be shipped right up to the customer, then the system obviously failed. The whole management should take responsibilty... not just ur friend and the engineer. Looks like they made him a scapegoat. Is ur friend a QA manager in the company?

Normally big american MNCs have excellent quality control tools like SPC, 6 sigma methodology, lot sampling for inbound and outbound QC etc.....they normally have the process in control unless its material related issue. Even then, if the system is sound the problems should be detected inhouse. Unless there was blatant disregard of SOP in every level and every stage which is unlikely. Suspect Suspect Suspect

Anyway, you and I can only speculate, we dont know what really happned. But like I said before, if he feels that he has been unfairly dismissed, go to labour court. There is nothing to lose anyway,

thank you again , vj

This is not a big MNC company.....and yeah it is a material issue. My friend is not a quality manager. There is no six sigma and so on in this company.

Anyway vj, thanks a lot. I'll advice him accordingly.

Go to the labour court too ...normally big company will hesitate to carry on with this type of issue ..

Unfair dismissal .. get the employer / HR to answer there ..the best solution as VJeyaa said..

I am sad ur fren is going thru such a crisis mirugam. Its a dog-eat-dog world. The top positions r not necesserily filled up by hard work... but more on smart work and sometimes back stabbing and lots of ball-carrying. However coming back to the topic...... self confidence is definitely an important ingredient in a person's journey thru life. It will help u pick up and move forward when set-backs throws u into the dumps. It pushes u to do the best u can.
