Require info regarding tamil school
Tue Sep 10, 2013 8:52 pm by Positivevibe
I just moved from Chennai, I am looking for admission for my 6 year old kid.
After my extensive search, understand that I can place my kid only in international school, as both of us are holding only professional visa.
Can someone suggest me, if there is any private or tamil school which will admit foreign national?

Private Tuition
Sun Sep 21, 2008 1:59 am by VJeyaa
Do you send your kids to private tuition after school or do you teach them yourselves? What are the pros and cons of sending kids to private tuition after school? Is it an unnecessary burden for the kids or is it seen as much needed assistance for the kids in terms of education?

A follow up to the discussion we started way back in the little india days. I found this one article dated Jan 2008 about the now famous International Irish University which i was following closely. It was quite an elaborate operation with graduation ceremonies etc.
Now the website is empty.

Private School
Tue Sep 09, 2008 11:41 pm by VJeyaa
Can someone from the education line give me some pointers about private schooling? I have been thinking about this recently as my daughter has come of enrollment age to the primary school. My current considerations are:
1. Sekolah Sri Murni
2. Sekolah Sri Chempaka
3. Convent Bukit Nenas (my personal preference)
We are also thinking of registering to a nearby Govt school, as a "just in …

Re: Caste System
yankee,
caste is based on the profession last time.
what is ur work anyway?
if u r so possesed about ur caste, quit your job and do your caste job.
anyway, i regards those degrade someone as pariahs. caste can be changed anytime.
physcologically those higher caste like to harp about caste to superimpose their weakness.
those superior and smarter dont need caste to reflect themselves.
those who dont have self-confidence harp about caste. those who have self-confidence dont giva a damn about caste. because they belief in their self and god.
my humble opinion

Re: Caste System
Mirugam, black and Rishi,
Just don't waste your energy on this miserable soul called Yankee. Let me give him one bloody history lesson about Periyar E. V. Ramasamy, born in a high caste, but dedicated in his entire life to educate the South Indians on how the caste system was cleverly manipulated by the Brahmins for their own benefits. (refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E._V._Ramasami_Naicker )
Now, can the so called 'upper caste' Yankee accuse that Periyar is also from the lowest caste?
As I told before, the world would be a better place to live without self-centered people like you.

Re: Caste System

Exactly...this is what happened during the post vedic years.
The Brahmin are actually required to devote themselves to GOD. Thats why they are required to bath 5 times and keep themselves very clean and they must learn the veda. The kysathrias suppose to provide them with food and so on as fee for doing the prayers for God. Normally, Hindu astrologers will ask those with past life paavams to donate or feed the Brahmins. Ever wonder why Brahmin? .....because they were at the receiving end.
But...now...will a Brahmin eat what a "lower caste" person giving him?

Re: Caste System
In the second part of the daytime, the Brahmin must teach his disciples the Vedas-this is adhyapana. Afterwards, he must gather flowers himself for the puja he is to perform. Since he is not expected to earn a salary- and if he does not own any land received as gift - he must beg for his food and also for the materials for the conduct of various sacrifices. The Brahmin has the right to beg, but it is a restrictive right because it means that he can take only the minimum needed for the upkeep and what is required for the performance of the rituals. A considerable part of what he receives as gifts is to be paid as daksina to the priests officiating at the sacrifices he performs.
